MINISTRIES

worship ministry

Worship is one of the foundations of who we are. We see worship as our response, our way of life, to receiving the love and grace of God through Jesus Christ.

As a multicultural church that values reconciliation, our practice of corporate worship is built around the vision of a “new song” in Revelation 5:9.

Recognizing that our church brings a wide range of cultural worship experiences, which includes stylistic, musical, and theological differences, we are intentional about creating a worship environment of freedom and invitation. Freedom – to express our worship in whatever way is authentic and an invitation to explore cultural expressions of worship that may be different from our own cultural norms.

children’s ministry

God loves kids so much, and we do too! Family is a huge part of our WHCC community, and we welcome kids of all ages to be a part of our church family.

Nursery is available for 0-3 years old upstairs during service. Ages preschool-5th grade will be dismissed after the 5-minute connection time during Sunday service. Please have your student stay seated until the announcement of this is completed.

We welcome young ones in full participation of Sunday service with worship, communion, readings, and prayer. Children learn from watching, participating and absorb much more than we realize!

Busy bags are available at the back of the worship space and coat room for your children to utilize during service. These bags include coloring pages, children bulletin, crayons and fidgets!

Caregivers of children Take a deep breath and relax! God has put the wiggle and giggle in children; don’t feel pressure to suppress it here!

However, there is a parents room and nursing mother’s room available near bathrooms if you need a moment.

The presence of children is a gift to the church and they are vibrant and growing piece of our community!

For those of us who do not have young ones with us, please welcome the children among us and give a smile of encouragement to the caregivers.

family sundays

The Pastoral team at Wellington Heights Community Church has given careful consideration and evaluation of our staff and volunteer resources and with this there will be a restructure of our Children's Ministry offering during in-person gatherings.

Starting in July, we will be transitioning to offering Family Sunday one time per month. Family Sunday will create space for children to be fully engaged in Sunday Service. Children’s Ministry staff will be available to offer nursery for ages 6 months-3 years old during Family Sunday. Busy bags will be packed and available for youth to utilize during service.  The schedule of Family Sunday will be communicated on the monthly Children’s Ministry newsletter.

This is a necessary step for the sustainability of ministry staff and volunteers at Wellington Heights Community Church. We understand that this change may impact your family's routine and feelings of disappointment may arise. Please reach out to Pastor Keeyon or Pastor Stephanie to process this decision.

At Wellington Heights Community Church we are committed to continuing to create space for engaging and meaningful conversation, activities and connection during Children’s Ministry. Children are a thriving, vibrant and growing part of our community and neighborhood! Within our current context we are welcoming this restructure, however, our prayer is to grow in financial and volunteer support to ensure that Children’s Ministry may flourish for the long haul!

We encourage you to reach out if you have any questions about this change.

God’s Peace,

Pastor Keeyon Carter

neighborhood development

God’s restoration work in our community is inspiring.  Answering the call to action on behalf and with the marginalized and the forgotten is sacred work.  We need one another and we are grateful for the community God is bringing together in Wellington Heights.
