Disconnect40
Lent is the Christian season of preparation before Easter. Traditionally, Lent is a time for prayer, fasting and generosity. This Lenten Season, Wellington Heights Community Church invites you to join us in a communal commitment to disconnect from screens to set aside the time we often turn to screens for distraction or engage in a constant stream of information to realign our hearts and minds with God. Consider downloading a free PDF the Disconnect40 Guide on the WHCC website or pick-up a copy at the back of the gathering space inside the church building.
While the whole of Lent is a journey toward the cross with Jesus, Holy Week is where we experience this journey with the greatest intensity. We’re invited to step into that intensity with intention through reflection, prayer, scripture reading as well as through traditions and practices that reflect the significance of the events of Holy Week embodied within communal gathering.
Our invitation is to the Beloved Community at WHCC is to walk into Holy Week and rather rushing to Easter Sunday that we may move with intention and stay within each movement of Holy Week. See the calenda above for suggested reading and practices as we prepare for the Good News. These movements will help guide us to walk with the suffering Jesus and others. And from this we will consider how to walk, learn from and follow Jesus.
